"If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it 'Chuck Berry'," John Lennon. Along with the other pioneers of the music, Chuck Berry comes the closest to put all rock n' roll parts together. He is the most important part of Rock n' Roll music, and will be forever. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included three of Chuck Berry's songs including "Johnny B. Goode", "Maybellene", and "Rock and Roll Music." He borrowed music from Carl Hogans, Charlie Christian and T-Bone Walker, who, in my mind, are hands down the greatest guitar players ever. Carl Hogan was a sax player and Berry got his most familiar intro guitar lick/riff from him. Rock N' Roll is one of the biggest genres of music out there today, and to all you guitar players and band planners if anyone considers them a Rock N Roller, well, you better have some Berry rhythm.
Currently, Berry often plays a random Wednesday each month at Blueberry Hill, a restaurant/bar located in the Delmar Loop neighborhood in St. Louis. I want to go.
